MINUTES---BISHOP’S COMMITTEE

December 1, 2008

6 p.m.

Present: Corby Craig, David Greene, Gail Moreman, Thomas Sumners, Fielding Reiner, Don Gray, Betsy Stephenson, Marie McShane, Tom Peterson.

Absent: Bob Keith

Also present: Liz Manning, Vicar Tommy Bye.

1.       The meeting was called to order with a prayer shortly and a Scripture reading after 6 PM. 

2.       Outreach Committee: Presented a budget of $10,000 for 2008 Assistance Fund, roughly 10% of our undesignated revenue.  Betsy discussed the allocation of funds among recipients within the Assistance Fund. The report was accepted, motion by David Greene, second by Marie McShane. 

3.       Betsy Stephenson was approved to be a check signer. It was announced that Betsy is also now serving as the church’s bookkeeper and minister’s assistant.

4.       Changes in the Bishop’s Committee effective 1/1/09. Nominations from the Vicar’s Committee included Sandy Hodges, Don Gray, Frana Keith replacing Corby Craig, Gail Moreman and Don Gray.   There may be additional nominations from the floor at the Annual Meeting.  The vote for these positions is to be held at the Annual Meeting on December 7.

5.       Gail is to check into seeing whether we need to purchase 2009 “church year” calendars or whether they will be provided by the Diocese.

6.       Liz is going to send out photos of possible church signs to the Bishop’s Committee by email.  

7.       Tommy presented a compilation of the in-home gatherings sorted into categories such as Evangelism, Finance, Youth, Fellowship/Hospitality, Education, Outreach, Communication, Facilities, and Other.  He appointed persons from the Bishop’s Committee to organize a meeting for each category group. The meetings would include all persons from the vestry who sign up at the Annual Meeting to serve on the respective committees.

8.       The meeting ended at 7:30 PM with prayer.
