Minutes of Bishop’s Committee Meeting---October 22, 2006

 

Present: Royce Calhoun, Bob Keith, Sandi Burleson, Rita Reiner, Rick Schroeter, Susan Dunham, Marie and Joe McShane, Liz and David Manning, Gail Moreman, Mae Hernland, Corby Craig, and Frana Keith.

 

1.        The meeting was opened with a prayer.

 

2.        Minutes were approved from the meeting of Sept 24, 2006.

 

3.        Treasurer’s Report-- Sandi reviewed the financial statement and said it reflected accounts receivable and an overpayment of pledges. There will be an audit committee selected next month, as per custom.

 

4.        The Search Committee--Liz reported that the next step would be a visit by two candidates to Johnson City and included meeting with the senior warden. The first is the following Monday, and the second visit is Nov. 17/18.

 

5.        Junior Warden report -- Bob said we will be changing out the plumbing in one of the restrooms, and the Sunday school house will get a granite gravel pathway into Swope Hall. The fence is up and gates will be installed before the celebration.

 

6.        Christie Series – The next community meeting will be in January. Several possible topics were mentioned such as  wildlife management, water collection., Johnson City library programs, and solar energy. The BC liked the idea of hearing more about the Johnson City library programs.

 

7.        Altar Guild report.-- Gail said the Joosts would provide flowers  for the 50th celebration. And altar linens form Gary Lillibridge’s boyhood church would be used at the confirmation celebration.

 

8.        Website—Bob reported it is up and running., and receiving RSVP information for the celebration.

 

9.        Confirmation report-- Four will be confirmed from our church, and one will be received. They will receive prayers books as gifts from the church.

 

10.     Habitat Report—. St Luke’s will help with meals and snacks for the workers on Nov 4.

 

11.     50-year celebration —Rita said we would anticipate 150 for brunch. The railing, altar, food, flowers, press release, parking, acolytes, greeters, name tags, memorabilia, bulletin, music, tables, and set up were all discussed. Help for setting up and preparation will be needed at 9 a.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. Sunday.

 

12.     Directories—Marie reported 200 directories would be printed and ready for the 50th celebration.

 

13.     Senior Warden’s Report: Bob reminded the committee of the annual meeting on November 19 , which includes the election of council delegates and new members of the Bishop’s Committee. (Liz, Rick, and Mike are rotating off the committee.)  There will also be a November BC meeting on Nov 12 at 7:30. The Council meeting is Feb 22- 24. Joe, Marie, David, Liz, Sandi, Gail, Frana, and Royce are all planning to attend at this time.

 

14.     Vicar’s report—Royce mentioned a memo from the Bishop to all clergy about protocol for parish weddings.

 

15.     The meeting was adjourned at 8:50.
