Minutes of Bishop’s Committee Meeting---September 24, 2006
Present: Royce Calhoun, Corby Craig, Susan Dunham, Joe and Marie McShane, Sandi Burleson, Rita Reiner, Rick Schroeter, Mike Kelley, Thomas and Paula Sumners, Sue and Tom Peterson, Gail Moreman, Ann Bond, Liz Manning, and Bob Keith
1. The meeting was opened with a prayer.
2. Report from the Search Committee indicated teams were in the process of visiting candidates and could complete the visits by mid-October
3. The Summary of Expenses and treasurer’s report was presented by Sandi. The committee voted to put $20,000 to $25,000 in a CD in Frost bank to earn better interest. Bob noted that Sandi had been offered compensation for her work as treasurer but she requested that her service be her gift to the church.
4. Junior Warden Report—Mike reported the posts for the Sunday School house fence had been put up. There will be a work day at 8:30 on October 21 to finish the fence, clean up and plant for fall.
5. Council Meeting/Annual Meeting/BC Meeting-- Bob announced the annual council meeting for the Diocese of West Texas would be Feb 22 in Corpus Christi, and the committee chose November 19 for the annual meeting of St Luke’s. The next Bishop’s Committee meeting will be October 22 at 7:30.
6. Sunday School report—Most of the painting is complete on the Sunday School house. The cabinets will be put in place, carpet may be needed, and a gravel walkway to the fellowship hall will be added. $1,000 is allocated for these expenses if needed.
7. Christi Series—Bob reported at least 63 people in attendance at the recent gathering to meet with the volunteer fire department of Round Mountain. Expenses of less than $200 were reported , and plans were made to have the next meeting in Jan. or Feb 2007 . Possible topics: Johnson City library, rainwater collection, wildlife management..
8. Altar Guild—Gail reported that all was well.
9. Confirmation report There will be 4 or 5 ready to be confirmed after 3- 5 sessions of study.
10. Habitat Report—Mike reported that the foundation had been poured for the house, and the next work day would be Sept. 23. St Luke’s will help with meals and snacks for the workers on Nov 4.
11. 50 year celebrations —Rita reported on the plans for the October 29 celebration: food, invitations, guest lists, with additional reports from Susan on the tents, Ann on the music. $2,000 is allotted for the celebration if needed. Bob passed around a sheet to attend Blanco’s 50th celebration Saturday, Sept 29.
12. Directories—Marie reported 150 directories will be printed at a cost of about $3.00 per copy.
13. Vicar’s Report—Royce thanked everyone for the work on the 50th celebration and encouraged St. Luke’s to attend the 50th celebration in Blanco.
14. Senior Warden’s Report: Bob said thank you to all for good financial shape of the church as well as work on all aspects of church life by so many involved.
