The meeting opened with Prayer.  The minutes of our meeting of April 15, 2007 were approved, following which these reports were made:

Vicar’s Report:  The Rev. Spear reported:

>          Mike and Thomas have hauled off the carpet remnants from the office and a telephone line will soon be installed;

>          His review reflects an increase in church attendance these past four months;

>          The Presiding Bishop was present at graduation services at the Seminary in Austin, which he was not able to attend;

>          He will begin maintaining regular office hours on Wed; built around an 11:00 a.m. communion service;

>          Young people from the Good Samaritan Center, SA, will be at Camp Capers the last of August, Rev. Spear will serve as

            Chaplin and suggested we host a “pizza night” or otherwise help with the activities; no specific commitment was sought;

>          He suggested a possible Mission trip to an Indian reservation in Utah or the Dakotas or an orphanage in Northern Mexico;

>          He raised the question of building a basketball court and estimated costs in the $12,000 range were discussed

>          He advised us of a vacation he plans in July and two weeks of yet unspecified continuing education;

>          He suggested with the Bishop’s Warden discussions regarding a second Sunday service, the earlier of the two being a

            Rite One Communion with limited Homily.  We proposed polling the congregation with suggested schedule of:

                        7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.  early service

                        8:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.  coffee hour

                        9 a.m. to 10 a.m.           Children & Adult Sunday School

                        10:15 a.m.                      Traditional Service

Treasurer:    The operating statement and balance sheet were received and reviewed.  Adoption of the scheduled formal budget for the calendar year 2007 did not occur.  Purchase of a computer for “less than $900” was reported by Betsy Stephenson and is being “loaded” with our programs.  A review of income and expenses for the calendar year 2007 are consistent with our projections of an approximate $20,000 shortfall.

Junior Warden’s Report:  Mike Kelley advised that window screens and a screen door for the office must be obtained and work will soon begin on the path from the office and Sunday School to the Parish Hall.    .

Warden’s Report:  Liz Manning:

a.   Suggested a “Vision Retreat” for the committee be held; Well Spring in Comal County was roundly praised as a site;

b.   Reiterated the importance of and effort committed to Vacation Bible School beginning June 25; volunteers are sought.

c.   Presented the highly acceptable idea of inviting Meteorologist Troy Kimmel to be our guest speaker at the next Christie Series, at a

            time to be announced;

d.   Named Marie McShane, Tom Peterson, and Bob Keith to explore, conceptually, the receipt and donation of funds for college scholarships for members of our congregation.

e.   Announced the receipt of a $1,000 gift from Angie Wooten to purchase carpet for the Sunday School House and the fact she had written a thank-you note to Ms. Wooten

f.   Announced the next meeting for 7:30 a.m., June 24, 2007.

            The meeting adjourned at 8:55 a.m.
