The meeting opened with Prayer. The minutes of our meetings of December 3 and 17, 2006 were approved.
We voted to hold regular meetings at 8:00 a.m. on the third Sunday of each month, on February 18, March 18, April 15 and May 20, 2007.
Rev. Spear spoke of his adjusting to the new environment and his search for a permanent home; of his first Sunday (January 7) being a “good start with a lot of excitement”; of his daughter’s hospitalization in Tyler; of his reflections on “why I am here”; of the trust necessary by priest and parishioners; of the lack of urgency to “get something done” as we “deepen our spiritual journey leading to the Great Commission”.
We approved a proposal to Adopt a Highway along portions of RR 962 as our special charge for litter clean-up and to seek approval of TexDot with appropriate signage, and to attempt to have information signs placed by TexDot regarding our location.
Discussion was held regarding the Christie Series with or without hamburgers. The decision was to generally serve hamburgers, soup or like fare at each session in the spirit of community. We will postpone the Library program until later in the Spring and invite Ron Fisseler and Bobby Wilson of the North Blanco County Underground Water District as our guests on January 30.
We discussed the Lenten programs which led to the following schedule:
February 20: Pancake Supper, 6:00 p.m.
February 21: Ash Wednesday Service
February 28: Compline & Communion, Rev. Spear
March 7, March 14, March 21, March 28 we will invite seminarians to participate with Rev. Spear.
On January 20 we will provide lunch to the Habitat Workers in Johnson City. Pre-council meetings were announced prior to Council on Feb. 22-24.
The meeting adjourned at 8:55 a.m., with additional prayers of gratitude for the rain.
Bob Keith, Clerk
